A Blog for Mama
Another Mother’s Day is on the horizon and I just wanted
to spread a little cheer to everyone. Being a mother is a never ending
responsibility and sometimes a thankless duty. For 33 years I have been blessed
with having the most amazing mother in the world. I’ve watched her go above and
beyond to make sure her children were taken care of. When I was in high school
she decided to go back to college. She worked full time, and went to school at
night to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Shaw University. She then went on to
earn her Master’s degree. I was there many nights editing papers before she
submitted them. I still think my name needs to be on that diploma too lol. Deborah Johnson is proof that it’s never too late to finish what you started. When I became a mother she was there everyday. The months that Dallas was in the hospital, every day she got off work she would drive down to see us. Not because she had to but because that's what a mother does.Making sure her child and grandchild were ok.
Because of Debo, my fear of
becoming a mother subsided. Dallas will be 4 in a few months and I think I’ve
done a pretty good job being her mom. I still have a lot to learn and a many
years left to go but because of the example given to me I’m confident I can be
a good role model and mother to Dallas. To all those who may no longer have their mothers in their
lives, always hold on to her memory. Make sure the life you are living and legacy
you leave is one that would make her proud. For those of us who are blessed to
still have our mothers we need to continue to show our love and appreciation
for them and all the sacrifices they have made for us. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, whether biological, adoptive, spiritual, etc. Without you none of us would be here
